"Bang." He bent a little and pulled her feet while she was in a hurry to run and due to that sudden pull she lost her entire balance falling on the face first. There was a table inside the room which was barely visible in the dark. Her forehead banged on the corner of the table marking her wince in pain. "Ah..." A scream left her mouth as she landed on the floor with a thud sound. She cursed herself for being reckless and welcomed another round of upcoming humiliation or tortures.

I am so royally f*cked, and not in a good way. "Tell me," the king says, "Do you know of the rumors about me?" What an odd thing to ask. "The half-wolf rumors?" I say. "Sure, who hasn't? People like to talk." "They're all true." Huh? True? Is the king actually insane? Sexy and crazy? Not my favorite combination, I have to admit. "I'm a shifter, Hera," he says. "I have no idea what that's supposed to mean," I respond.

Placing her other books on the floor, Layla pulled the leather-bound book from its home amongst the others and opened it. As her eyes skimmed the pages, she caught a couple of words; SHADOW STALKERS, BLOODSUCKER, PHANTOMS.

I go the opposite way, painstakingly reading each and every title. “Callie!” Alice exclaims excitedly. “I think I found something.” I hurry over, seeing her pull a smaller black book off the shelf. There’s no title on this book, only a gold Baphomet overlaid on the leather. “The Book of the Beast,” I whisper, eyes lighting up. “I think you did find something.” She cracks the spine and I lean over, heart racing. And then the library doors open and close with a boom, echoing throughout the entire room. Alice and I both jump, and she quickly shoves the book into her cloak.

The book was shaking, and I feared that it would burst at any moment. Luckily, the shaking ceased after a few minutes and the cover of the book swung open, revealing the first page.

I don't know what I expected but it definitely wasn't him grinning—sharp, slightly extended canines flashing as his left cheek dimpled. “Now this is interesting.” He murmured breathlessly and I felt heat travel through my body and pool in the pit of my stomach. ******** JORDAN I watched amber coloured eyes flare—warm brown pupils dilating—as Shayla…well,Mazikeen,stared at me. I squinted, studying her as I felt her fiery energy curl around me then quickly withdraw.
