I toss the shirt on the floor and fall into bed as if my spine gave out. I'm tired. The daylight creeps in through the edge of the blackout curtains. Time doesn't mean much at Apex. I'm awake during the night and asleep during the day. It's past my bedtime. Their noises still echo and it comforts me. I don't know what that says about me, but I let it lull me to sleep anyway. I crash hard. For the first time, I don't dream about rage, blood, or violence. I dream about Beatrice. I wake up to darkness. The room is quiet and still. The sun is long gone.
