Exactly one hour later, I pushed open the heavy concrete doors of the detached gym. The space was cool, smelling faintly of rubber and industrial oil. The bright morning sun streamed through the high, barred windows, casting long, geometric shadows across the rubber mats. Alex was already waiting in the center, dressed in a sleek, dark tactical long-sleeve. The long leather roll of blades we had used yesterday sat open on a metal table near the wall.

“These are mine. Shirt and joggers they should do for now.” I snatched them, changed quickly in the hallway bathroom, and followed through the forest and to the training grounds. There was a bit of an upgrade since I last saw it, there was more equipment, a mat and a cooler on the floor. “I thought we could use a bit of an adjustment,” Brad explained with a shrug. I gave me a half smile walking towards a dummy, I didn't wait for instructions when I began hitting it. Punch after punch, I struck the dummy, my arms shaking, sweat already forming.
