I admit, my voice barely above a whisper.
Meera looks up, her brow furrowing. “Nerves?” she asks, her tone softening. “Or is this about Hayley?”
I hesitate, unsure how to answer. Maybe it’s both. Maybe it’s everything.
“Hey,” Meera says, leaning forward slightly. “Breathe with me, okay? Four counts in, hold for four, four counts out. Repeat.”
I nod, closing my eyes and mimicking her steady rhythm. The exercise feels a little silly at first, but with each exhale, the tightness in my chest loosens just a fraction.
