The Midnight Bride
He didn’t say a word or look at me as he reached for my waist, helping me down from the horse.
I let my hands linger on his arms, feeling the corded muscle beneath his sleeves. It sent my stomach into a frenzy, a reaction I wasn’t sure I understood.
It took a moment before he looked down at me, immediately reaching for my cloak, untying it from my neck. He draped it over his arm, his eyes raking over my shoulders and down to my stomach.
I wanted to shrink beneath his stare, but I stayed still, trembling slightly.
“You can take those chains off in the water.”
