He froze, his mouth dropped open, and his hand flew to his chest. “Oh no. No, no, no!” he gasped, circling me as if I were a piece of art gone wrong. “Brown? This is… this is a crime. Who let this happen? And don’t tell me it was your idea.” He leaned in, squinting at my strands. “It’s not even the right shade! If you had gone chestnut, at least it would’ve warmed your skin tone. Or even a dark caramel, darling, that would’ve been divine. But this…”

Spreading out the individual strands, he moved them around. "Are you trying to take up hair weaving?" I asked. He laughed. "No. But you're right. There is something different about it. It's almost like your hair is absorbing light instead of reflecting it." He looked up, caught my gaze. "Does that make sense?" I nodded. "Yeah. But instead of the ash undertones, they're closer to blue." I twisted around, changed how the light hit my hair while looking in the mirror. "I don't know. That sounds crazy."

My wavy waist length red hair was pulled back tight in a messy bun, revealing my sharp jawline. The golden eyes that stared back at me was a common trait in the Laurent family. I grinned slightly and noticed that his wet hair looked black and had visible auburn highlights. “I thought you had black hair?” He glanced over at me and grabbed his bag before hurrying to the bathroom. “That was odd,” I commented to Nova and she growled. “I believe that he dyes his hair because his wolf looks black but has reddish tints in the sunlight,” Nova commented and I thought it was funny. When he came back out I had finished washing and glanced over at him. Seeing black hair I frowned. “You look nicer with the auburn color,” I said truthfully and he grunted.

The stylist looks a little dubious to be changing my color to something more natural but, of course, complies with the alpha. After about an hour, I am finally able to see my new color. It is still a vibrant red color but now it looks more like a German or Scottish red instead of my cardinal red. Even my eyebrows were dyed to match it. Overall, I do not look like the same person with just this small change. There might be a chance that we can pull this off after all.

Tears brimmed her eyes, she closed her eyes and shook her head not wanting to let the tears fall.
