He pointed at me.
“The woman standing before you is Calista, the daughter of Elder Homer. And she is a criminal.”
The room stayed silent. Nobody cheered, agreed or even moved. Magnus was standing beside me and that was all the protection I needed.
Jake cleared his throat, clearly uncomfortable that he was not receiving the reaction he expected.
“Earlier today, this shiftless woman broke into my private room,” he continued. “When I realized she was not capable of becoming the future Luna of this pack, I made the difficult decision any responsible leader would make.”
