“Just slide down into my arms; I'll catch you. Or would you prefer that I dragged you down from there? Because I won't hesitate.”
“Just give me a minute.”
“You have five seconds.”
“Wait…”
He started counting backwards. “Five,”
“Brayden…”
“Four,”
I wasn't going to let him finish. I practically jumped down from the cabinet and into his waiting hands. Brayden’s hands caught me easily, his grip firm but not rough.
“There,” he said, setting me on my feet. “That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
Standing this close to him made me realize just how much taller he was than me. I wasn't blind; anyone with eyes could tell that Brayden was tall, taller than six feet.
