I stared at Greg, waiting for the lie he was about to tell me.
"Whatever business I had with Cillian doesn't affect our case and our relationship with each other, so calm down," Greg said, his voice regaining its professional veneer. "He’s a powerful man, Valerie. He has interests in things that go far beyond your marriage. My firm handles more than just your estate."
I looked at him, searching for a tremor, a tell. I didn't believe a word of it, but I knew he wouldn't act rashly. Greg was a pragmatist. He knew that if I fell, I wasn't going down alone.
