“It's a contract marriage. You can stipulate the duration,” Brielle clarified, remaining as calm as possible. But her body was stiff, and she felt an insurmountable pressure pressing in on her every time she met his ocean-deep orbs. She was scared, not of him this time. But the feelings she noticed. They were stronger than before, and she had an inkling that once she entered the contract marriage, it wouldn't be that easy to get out of it.

Jack narrows his eyes at me, studying my reaction, "At first you two acted like an old married couple, but now you're acting like love struck teenagers. I'm getting whiplash." I wave him off with my hand, "That's just how marriage works, okay? Maybe when you get married to Amaris you will understand." Jack sips his beer, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. I knew that would shut him up. With just the mention of Amaris, he gets all weird and blushes hard. I needed him to stop analyzing my marriage with Harper because he might end up asking too many questions, or worse, figuring out that it's been fake since the beginning. I can't risk it.

I pick it up not looking at the caller. "Dad, Cailly just left the house and you're right, Calix didn't have the chance to stop her. But he just announced that she was his mate." She said in pain. "Just stay there, I'll handle Cailly." That's all I said before I hung up. Her eyes widen in shock at the sight before her—Marie leaning far too close to Nolan, her hands clinging to him as though her life depends on it. What is going on here?" Elena's voice cuts through “the tension like a knife. Marie jumps away from Nolan as though burned, her face quickly rearranging itself into an expression of innocence. "Elena, it's not what it looks like!" she exclaims in a high-pitched voice that carries little conviction.

For some stupid reason Callie tensed up. Why was it affecting her if Marla was seducing him? Why did Callie even care? Carrie unbelievably looked at him. “It's final.” He said and walked out. Carrie looked over to Jade. “You did this.” “And again, congratulations.” Jade slightly lifted her glass before placing the rim to her lips. Carrie followed him. “Xavier! Xavier! Listen to me!” Maria shut the door and walked to Jade. “I actually feel sorry for Carrie and her parents. They looked so terrible.” Maria sadly said. “Nobody deserves that. Do you think the boils will disappear before the wedding?” “ I don't know much about boils but I'm sure she will figure it out.” Jade shrugged and picked the wine bottle.

The sight irritated Manni, but she forced herself to stay calm and collected. "I just came to see how you were, you know?" Manni continued, her voice a bit softer now. "I couldn’t sleep last night, honestly. I kept thinking about everything your ex-husband put you through. It’s just… heartbreaking, really. If I’m being honest, it even makes me rethink the whole idea of marriage. But that’s not exactly why I’m here," she added, urgency in her voice. She stopped abruptly, startled by the sound of the toilet flushing. Her gaze flicked to the bathroom door as it opened, and Diana, Becky’s best friend, stepped out.

She paused, then added, "Carter and I are divorced now. You can just call me Sharon." Marie quickly replied, a little embarrassed, "Ah… I'm so used to calling you Madam…" Her attention then shifted to the handsome young man at Sharon's side. Marie blinked in surprise. "And this is…?" Sharon smiled. "This is my fiancé, Thomas." She turned to Thomas. "Thomas, this is Marie—the one I told you about. She took care of me for five years." Thomas politely nodded and greeted Marie. Sharon asked, "Marie, where's Theo?"

She grinned when she saw Marie's incoming call. "Marie's calling, I guess the plan worked out," She said to Seth before picking up the call. "Hey Marie" "Hi, Mrs Serena," Marie said from the other end. "I know the plan worked out, she has broken her bones right? Which one? Her spinal cord?" Serena laughed. "Well ..." Marie drawled. "What?" Serena asked. "The plan didn't work out" She finally dropped the bomb. "What!" Serena exclaimed. "Didn't you do everything as planned?"

Marie shrugged as she made her deal with Carl known to Trisha. "What?!" Asked Trisha with amazement and disbelief. "As you can see, we are not young people. We can handle things accordingly and be mature to figure things that may come out from our actions," Marie stated casually. "He is asking me on a date in return for taking me here to see you. And I said yes, so here I am," Marie chuckled. "Who knows, I might get laid again. It's been a damn while!" she giggled, Trisha joined her, and their laughter roared louder, filling the whole living room boisterously.
