Look closely and you’ll see the worms.” She poked, knowing Dante’s fear of worms. “Wo-worms?!” Dante stammered as she froze in his tracks. He stared at Delilah instead of the apple which was supposed to have worms in them. Delilah folded her hands along her chest and nodded. “Yes, Dante. Worms.” Dante shrieked and bolted out of the kitchen at lightning speed as his blood-curdling scream filled the air. He raced towards his room, also frantically contemplating cutting his tongue off to escape the sensation of the worms.

Sure enough, a familiar hunger began to bother me again. I grabbed a milk bottle, filled it to the top, and placed it in the fridge. It felt wasteful to throw something like that away, so I figured Nicholas could drink it later. But that afternoon, Matthew came home sweaty after basketball practice. He grabbed the bottle from the fridge and drank the whole thing in one go. For some reason, watching him drink it sent a strange thrill through me. Just as she was about to stretch, she suddenly saw… A black worm as big as a finger, crawling up her pant leg disgustingly. “Aargh!” Utterly terrified was the pale Susan that she screamed her lungs out, and she vehemently shook her leg to try and shake the worm off. No matter how hard she shook, however, the worm seemed stuck and did not get off. It even continued crawling up her pant leg. “Aaahh!” Mortified, Susan picked up a stick and tried to swat it off. However, before she could do so, she was too intimidated by the disgusting look of the worm and dropped the stick.

"Let's see how you can communicate with your little ones now that you're dead." She kicked it with just enough force to trigger the tiny worms hiding in the ground. Countless tiny worms shot up and many entered their mother's dead body. In a short amount of time, there was nothing left of the giant worm. The woman did not stay behind to watch it. There was no need to. She intended to abandon the worms there and let them starve to death.

No maggots yet, but with all those flies it wouldn’t be long. That, of course, was the last straw. The image of fleshy worms writhing inside those stinking bodies made my stomach churn. I was pretty sure if we didn’t bail immediately, my Coke and partially devoured Slim Jim would end up all over my NIKEs. In fact, just the thought of my Slim Jim twitched my guts. I tossed the uneaten portion, still in its wrapper, away. I grasped Bobby’s elbow, weakly tugging him away. “Dude, let’s split. I’m gonna chuck.”
