I kicked, twisted, fought, but it was useless. They were too strong. “Please!” I cried, panic taking over again. My body felt weak. Too weak. I hadn’t eaten. I was already sick. Everything was spinning. And then my legs gave out. My strength disappeared completely. The fight drained out of me as darkness crept in again. The last thing I saw was Tristan watching me. His expression, completely unreadable. And then everything went black. When I opened my eyes again, everything felt softer. I didn't feel any iron bars or hear noises just complete silence.

Then I grabbed the signal flare Rory had given me and headed to the study on the second floor. I looked at the enormous study, not knowing where to start. I checked the desk drawers, but there was nothing. I stared at the wall of books, growing anxious. Suddenly a loud clang made my heart jump to my throat. "Meow." It was just a stray cat outside the window. I walked toward the bookshelf. Most of the books here were covered in dust, but several copies of Dante's Divine Comedy were spotless. I walked over and pulled them out. Behind them was indeed a small safe.

Seeing the feet pause outside of the stall, I shoved the door hard outward, smacking whoever had been standing there. Not bothering to wash my hands, I quickly unlocked the bathroom door and ran out, only to be captured by the freaking guy. “Let me go, asshole,” I muttered bitterly. “Are you Jade Pinkerton?” He inquired and I eyed him strangely. “What if I am what it is to you?” I questioned. “I am a member of the OCH, and we are a worldwide organization,” he stated, and I gave him a stoic glare. “Order of the Cryptid Hunters and I knew your father. I recognize his ball cap and you have his eyes.”

I answered almost immediately. “Well… till then, you'll do as I say.” “I’ll do as you say but not on this one.” “Then, I'll make you,” he scoffed. The crackle of a gun brought me to my senses. “You can either choose to die or do as I say.” I took my panties off and here I was naked before my captor’s rival. All I wanted was to run away from earth entirely. My life was a total mess. I began to wonder how I became so unfortunate.

I took one last look around the room, this place I had once foolishly thought was my home. In the living room, I picked up the solid gold lighter from Vincent's cigar box. It was the first gift he had ever given me. I had thought it meant something special. Now I knew it was nothing more than a hunter's mark on his prey. I flicked it open. The flame danced in the dim light. Then I tossed it onto the heavy silk curtains. The fire spread with terrifying speed, devouring every memory, every lie, every ghost in this house. I dragged my suitcase to the door and looked back at the room, now illuminated by the growing, hungry flames.

I watched as Five stood and walked to the bathroom, then returned my focus down to the book I was reading. Three sentences was as far as I’d gotten when the end of the bed dipped. I glanced up and right into the dark eyes of my captor. He grabbed on to my ankles and twisted me, pulling my body down the bed as he climbed between my legs. Heat flooded my cheeks as he slowly worked his hands up my stomach, wrapping his hands around my arms, moving them above my head.

All of it would go down the drain. "Bella?" Chloe’s voice came through the thick panel again, light and innocent. "Is someone in there with you?" Bella opened her mouth, but her throat locked up. She couldn't speak. She couldn't even breathe. I had to fix this right now. I lifted Bella off the edge of the counter, setting her feet down quietly on the floor. I shoved my red eyes back under control, burying the demon deep inside my chest until my vision cleared. Then, before Chloe could try the handle a third time, I reached out and kicked the large metal trash bin in the corner with all my weight.

My tiny frail voice called out for help but all I was replied with was the sounds from my own voice that echoed around me in plain mockery. The sudden footsteps I heard approach me from all around in the dark like an army of a thousand men combined in the footsteps of just one man got my chest beating too hard that it became so hard to breathe. I could see no one but I could feel myself along with the chair get tilted behind and suddenly, an all to Bright ray of light dropped down from above me unto the face of my captive I couldn't see with how blinding the lights were but it didn't stop me from noticing the same pair of Grey eyes that belongs to the monster I'd known.
