“Oh, you have no idea.” Kade finally looks up, confused, blinking between me and the cashier. “What?” I turn back to her, ignoring him. “And for me, I’ll have, hmm, what do you recommend?” She brightens, tapping a finger against the register. “Oh, well, our BBQ chicken pizza is really good.” “Perfect,” I say smoothly, leaning in just slightly. “If you say it’s good, I trust you.” She laughs, biting her lip and Kade’s hand clamps around my wrist. It's not harsh, not rough, just firm.

She laughed looking out of the window. “Well what haven’t you done that you want to do?” “Eat a deep dish pizza.” Kenya blurted. “I know the exact place.” I drove just a short stretch down Michigan Avenue to the other side of the Prudential Building to a great pizza place, called Giordano’s. I felt if she wanted to eat deep dish pizza, she needed to try the best. We entered and were able to grab a booth as most of the tables were already full. “I like the ambiance here. It’s comfy and cozy.” Kenya looked around with a smile plastered on her face. She was a beautiful young woman, around my age, who wanted to launch her business just like I did.

“Now, I don’t know about ‘in the world’. It’s going to have to go some to beat Charlie Brown’s Pizza in Zanesville, Ohio.” “Ohio?” he scoffed. “You’ve got to be kidding me! We’re talking about New York here!” He made a grand gesture around him. “If that’s all you have to compare it with, then you haven’t had pizza yet!” I shook my head. “I don’t know. Charlie Brown’s Pizza was really good.” He smiled. “Well, we’ll see now, won’t we?” He led me to the street and held up his hand and whistled, hailing a cab. A moment later, we both slid into the backseat. “Denino’s Pizzeria and Tavern, please.”

My brooding thoughts shut my senses, not realizing they were already moving. “Nothing.” I dashed to catch up with them. Even so, I didn’t have the guts to ask. “Li?” Wilt called. “I think we’re almost there.” We were heading for the restaurant that Li found on the internet when he got used to his cell phone. He said that their vegetarian-styled pizza was a certified gold-class gourmet in the city.

The pizza place had games with flashing lights, screaming kids, and harassed-looking parents. Reed, who seemed overwhelmed by Bitsy's earlier questions, had no problem playing games like a kid and putting tokens in the machines as fast as they could use them. Jon mostly stayed back watching Bitsy closely. He watched Reed too, and I knew he was having just as much trouble trying to figure him out as I did. "This is the best pizza in the whole wide world," Bitsy said after she finished her first slice, sauce smeared across her mouth and pure joy in every word.

Right now, two drunk blondes are singing a country song about messing up some guy’s car with a Louisville slugger because he cheated. Nevaeh and Amara seem to be enjoying it. The waitresses look exhausted as they haul large trays of drinks and greasy slices of pizzas. All of the pizza place workers are wearing faded “Polly’s” t-shirts and cutoff jeans. The place is not very clean with its faded red paint and moldy windows, but I have to admit the pizza is good.

I heard New York had the best pizza and I couldn't wait to taste them. I went back to my room to wear something more appropriate before going down to meet up with Anastasia. We got into the car and used G****e maps to locate the best pizza place in the city. Damian gave me an allowance that was so huge, I didn't know what else to do with it other than buy food. We got to the pizzeria and it looked super fancy which I hadn't expected. As we got down from the Rolls Royce, I had expected eyes on us but then I saw the cars in the parking lot and damn, these customers have money.

No one needed to know how many tears I had shed over all those forgotten meals. "You're pregnant. Pregnant women like food." Trust Tyler to cut right to the heart of the matter. I had to hand it to him: he was wonderful when he was direct. Would we have had a chance together if I had tried being direct with him from the very start? "It smells amazing. Where is it from?" Tyler gave me a grin as he offered the boxes to me, "Giovanni's. They're a family-owned pizzeria. I've never had better. I have to fight Adam when I order because they put crispy basil on top. He steals it all for himself."

His heart was beating better, and it was developing hard feelings for Alice. Alice stopped the car in front of a restaurant with a name they both couldn’t pronounce. Laniakea has the best pizza in the city, according to Alice. She wanted to prove to Simon that any other pizza place can’t compare. “I have never been here before.” Simon added, looking at the place. “Their pizza is going to blow you away. Come on,” Alice grinned as they walked in.

“Sorry, I was just watching you enjoy it. I didn’t mean to put you off.” Zach didn’t take offense as he was used to it. Even his parents liked to watch him whilst he ate. “It’s fine. How is the pizza?” Darien took a more poetic approach with his review. “I’ve been to Italy and tried many authentic pizzas. This isn’t quite the same, but it is second place after Italian pizzas.”
