THE SILVER LINING
He recalled her words once, icy but honest: If he falls, I will kill him myself.
"Then I'll never fall," Miyal choked, his voice half-broken. "Not to you. Not to anyone."
His claws gouged into his own chest, where the Golden Chains burned hottest. Light pulsed, struggling, writhing to escape.
Vosvak hissed, stepping back. "What are you?"
"I am Alpha!" Miyal bellowed, his body bowing, muscles splitting asunder under the tension. "I am not yours!"
With a final, raw howl that convulsed the Citadel, Miyal tore himself upright. The Golden Chains burned with such intensity they blinded the chamber, exploding outward in a deluge of pure holy fire.
