Three Chances Too Late

Three Chances Too Late

I suddenly found this entire situation rather absurd. I no longer need the money, Kim. Not now, not ever. I picked up the divorce papers that Kim rejected, subconsciously rubbing my fingers together on the title. I heard their conversation coming from the bedroom mixed with laughter. "Kim, what happens if you have a son? I want a daughter." "Then, we'll have more babies. I'll make sure you'll be satisfied." I smiled self-deprecatingly. So, this was the accident that she claimed to have happened?

"Hm look at you asking for favours and conditions when you know you are helpless and you can’t make me accept it, but I like your confidence." “what if I can”. oh shit what have I done, Racy what were you thinking I thought to myself but still kept my level of confidence high. “But how”, he asked leaning into my height. He is TALL. I automatically took a step back and said "what I am asking you about, is helping me not doing some favours, please take it as helping a person not giving favours freely". I said, hoping that he will not reject me. he adjusted in his height and said. "what's your story?"

Second Chanced Mates

Second Chanced Mates

They all had the same birthmarks but in different parts of their bodies. I turned to Arielle who sat there frozen, her face was blank and void of all expression as her fingers trembled slightly. She squeezed my hand tighter as she looked away from the picture. She seemed almost afraid as if the book would explode if she touched it. The book was glowing a dull red now and I could hear whispers that were coming out of it. I thought I could. I don’t know if it was in my head but I think I saw it truly and heard the voices

Not because of anything specific, but just because there were no distractions that required my attention. In the secrecy of my head, I wondered what could possibly go wrong. What if Alfred was right? But those people were not of us. Rumors said that they were not to be trusted and that they thought only of themselves. If the rumors were correct, we weren't worth their time and effort anyway. I took the books from the shelves one by one, reading through the titles slowly and meticulously. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I didn't realize how dark it had begun to grow outside until I noticed the moonlight.

Second Chances

She reaches out, taking my hand. “I’m asking you to give this a chance. Dr. Akeso will be monitoring me every other day. If it looks like our pup is struggling or that I can’t carry him or her to term, we can talk about next steps. I’m just asking you to give this a try, Dimitri. You’ve given me a gift that I’d given up on ever having in my life. You’ve given me the ability to give life to a little person, someone who is part of us. I just want a chance, Dimitri. I promise, I will do whatever Dr. Akeso says I have to do. Anything. I just want a chance. Please, Dimitri.”

What an ending. Really loved the story. Love between Dimitri and Ayda is soo special as he never compare her to his previous mate. The special bond between Cathal and Ayda is so precious. This story is truly amazing and have a great ending. Sad it is finished but happy with the story line ending.

I VERY, VERY highly recommend this book. It's short, sweet, and doesn't leave any emotional feeling untold. The feelings are raw, heartbreaking, and very heartwarming. You live it. It's rare you get a book that doesn't go in circles or drag on. The author definitely doesn't disappoint. Well done.

Chance To Change The Future

Chance To Change The Future

She looked around and went to the middle of all colors to watch. Different colors rays were started to form an orbit, making Alexis as a center. Alexis was stunned with this phenomenon. She scanned every color in orbit. Colorless, sky blue, dark pink, black with brown, sky blue were the colors in the first orbit. While she was looking at first orbit, she noticed that suddenly the second orbit was started to form. All the remaining colors which were first rejecting her were gathering to form the second orbit. That made Alexis even more dumbfound. Things with color having colorless and sky blue automatically came near her so she didn't even think for a second and extend her left hand to touch

Mia and Mara

Mia shrugged and for a moment I felt like my ears weren't hearing the right thing. "Mia, are you sure you didn't take anything that messed with your reason? When did you start believing in luck, not just any luck but bad luck". I was trying to wrap my head around what she just told me. "Luck exists, this book here talks about it" she handed me a book and here I thought that she was reading a textbook. I didn't know she was reading something else titled "Existence of luck". "This is complete nonsense even if the title doesn't make any sense. Mia, not everything you read in books or on the internet are true and besides where did you get this book?" I looked at the book once again.

Frequently Asked Questions

'Chances Are' is one of those books that really sticks with you. The author is Richard Russo, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer known for his deep, character-driven stories. Russo has this incredible ability to weave humor and heartache into his narratives, making his characters feel like people you might actually know. 'Chances Are' is no exception—it’s a story about three old friends reuniting after decades, and the secrets that come bubbling to the surface. Russo’s writing is so vivid that you can almost smell the salty air of the coastal town where much of the book is set. His dialogue crackles with authenticity, and the way he explores themes of friendship, regret, and the passage of time is nothing short of masterful.

If you’re new to Russo’s work, 'Chances Are' is a great place to start, but I’d also recommend 'Empire Falls' or 'Nobody’s Fool' if you want to see more of his range. What I love about Russo is how he captures the quirks and complexities of small-town life without ever slipping into cliché. His characters are flawed, funny, and deeply human, which makes his books a joy to read. 'Chances Are' might not be as flashy as some of the bestsellers out there, but it’s the kind of book that lingers in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page. If you’re into stories that balance wit, warmth, and a touch of melancholy, Russo’s your guy.
