It stopped, but why? Ella tilted her head as the creature suddenly shook its head. It pawed at its own face, staining its white coat red, when a claw sliced open its pelt. Its blue eyes suddenly flashed red and it growled loudly. Ella stumbled back in shock. This was no normal tiger she soon realized. It was being controlled. Her heartached as the animal began to do more harm to itself. "Stop," she said, feeling her eyes burn as tears threaten to fall. "No, stop, your hurting yourself," she said feeling her heart break a little.

Then his expression hardened. “So be it.” He raised one hand. The Phantom Wolves shifted in perfect unison. The battle began with a roar. Rogues met them at the gates with steel and fangs. Arrows rained from the towers. Howls and screams tore through the air. Ryder shifted beside me in one fluid motion, massive black wolf with burning red eyes, Chaos incarnate. He threw his head back and howled a challenge that shook the stones beneath my feet. I didn’t shift yet. Ryder had told me to hold human form as long as possible.

How can one wolf cause so much devastation? Khaos had been here less than a day, and already he had caused more drama than any wolf I had come across – it was almost as if he enjoyed it. As if he knew that drama would follow wherever he was, and he fully embraced this. As soon as we had heard that he was smashing up the packhouse, we had thrown our clothes back on and raced down the stairs.

Which made it confusing how she had done so much damage to the rogues. One of the rogues had claimed that the she-wolf had half shifted and held that half shift while fighting them. Half shift is a learned skill that few master. For an underage she-wolf to do that and inflict damage on rogues, it was impressive. I smiled. Maybe the she-wolf would be worth the trouble of an unauthorized visit to her pack.

She is feral when she took control of our bodies. Snarling and snapping at every wolf that nears her five paces, she is chaos walking. They stalked her, circling as though she was a rabbit in a hole when they realized a strike upfront would not do. That pestered her mind. She felt the great need to put these dimwits in their rightful places.

When they weren't breaking any rules by being on no man's land, they were also extremely hostile. I had tried countless times to just speak to them, to get answers. It wasn't normal for so many rogues to be in one area, and their numbers were growing by the day. Rogues usually had a wild and territorial side that didn't like other wolves, even other rogues near them. Once a wolf went fully rogue, whether by choice or from banishment, its animal would start to take over. Even if they chose to live among humans in unclaimed territory, the lack of a pack would weaken them until either their wolf died or their wolf overpowered their human counterpart.

He paused, his eyes scanning my face for any sign of understanding. “I couldn't help but laugh, I guess either I'm hearing things or I'm not the only crazy one in the room.” Zayn stepped closer, his movements deliberate and careful, as if I might bolt at any moment. “You’re a wolf,” he said, his voice steady. “You always have been. You just didn’t know it yet.” I burst out in laughter once again, sharp and bitter, verging on hysteria. “You’re insane. This is insane.”

Done hiding. The White Wolf has risen.
