It was the strange dreams, the odd whispers I couldn’t quite decipher, and the feeling that something was shifting within me—something bigger than just the life growing inside me. At first, I thought I was imagining things. The dreams were vivid, far more intense than anything I had ever experienced before. Wolves, glowing in shades of silver and blue, danced through the forest in ways I couldn’t understand. Their eyes, glowing with ancient power, watched me with a kind of knowing that made my heart race. In these dreams, they spoke to me—not with words, but with feelings, with intentions that tugged at the very core of my being.

“The paternity test, asking me to stay away from my son then coming to me at the airport just when I decided to leave everything behind” Lauren whispered to herself as he kept yelling “It’s just a dream… it’s just a dream”. “This is no dream Lauren,” Damien said with a stern look. Lauren blinked severally and pinched herself and it hurt. He was right, this was not a dream. “What did he do to you?” he asked # “Who?” “Nathan, what did he do to you?” he asked again. Lauren felt disoriented, her head began to ache as she tried to remember everything that led her here. If she wasn’t in a dream then how did she end up with Damien.

I leaned in close to her and asked just as quietly, “What is it?” “Well,” she began taking another look around the room before continuing. “I have been having dreams as well but not of Laylan, or unicorns, or fairies, or anything like that. I always thought that maybe I just had multiple personalities and the other happened to be a man named Daemon. But recently, I have been dreaming dreams as if they were his memories or something,” she stopped and looked at me.

A lycan and a wolf locked in a fierce battle, a woman and a little girl running for their lives. The terror of the chase, the slashing claws, and the echoing screams filled my ears. "What's that dream?" His eyes darkened dangerously. I should be scared, but it was sexy. "A man like me can't have dreams as sweet as yours. My dreams are called nightmares. She didn’t try to crowd me and that felt safe. At my apartment I locked the door three times out of habit. I changed into my soft pajamas. Made me some tea that I did not touch. And then I sat on the couch with my phone in hand. The nightmares had been brutal lately. Flashes of hands that I could not escape. Voices that I could silence. Thoughts that I could not shut out no matter how much I wanted to. Tonight already felt heavier than the way it used to be. I stared at the number that was on the scrap paper.
