Jayden's POV Loud banging music. Drinks filling in with meatballs to compliment. Laughter echoing through the room. Freya tucked to me, she and Agatha in a twerking contest. But my attention was still pinned to the door, tapping my fingers on the plush sofa I sat on. Charlie hadn't shown up yet. Minutes rolled to an hour. The brass door of the clubhouse finally turned open. Charlie stepped in. Not in baggy jeans. She wore a long silky peach gown, with deep openings right up to her thigh.

Charlie said in a low voice, “If I go directly, she’ll just get scared again.” “…Scared of what?” “You wouldn’t understand.” Rex really didn’t understand. One of them driving around in the middle of the night instead of sleeping, the other following behind, also not sleeping, and still trying not to get caught… What was this, some kind of hide-and-seek game? Charlie stared at the distant car for a long time, then pulled out his phone and looked at the locations she had circled around. He noticed they were all near pharmacies.

“Where are we?” Charlie parked in front of a mansion with marble steps and tall windows. He got out of the car without answering me, and I followed behind him with my heart pounding in my chest. Inside, the house was breathtaking with marble floors, huge chandeliers, a staircase that curved like something out of a fairy tale. But the more I looked, the colder it felt. “This is one of Maverick’s houses,” Charlie said, glancing around like he’d been here a dozen times. “You can wait here until he arrives.”

"I want to go to City-B. I want to see Leo. Elena usually takes him to the city park on weekends." Ray looked momentarily surprised, glancing at him through the rearview mirror. "I'll go with you, Mr. Vane. I'm worried that if you go alone, your movements might arouse Madam Elena's suspicions." "Thank you, Ray," Charlie replied shortly before closing his eyes, exhausted by a longing that had become almost unbearable. The weekend finally arrived in City-B. The cool morning air filled the city as Charlie, wearing a black cap and a face mask for disguise, stood quietly beneath the shade of a large tree in the city park. The park was located not far from Elena's residence.
