Chapter 35 The night grew long as Antonio worked on his computer in the guest room, not Janet’s. He needed to think clearly without her. Fairchild was up to something, but what? It didn’t make sense. She broke her back to help Jason and Dan. Why would she act so differently now about them? Antonio had to dig deeper into her file and erase everything he grew to know from her.

Marianne smiled and said, “Mr. Wade, although you did not graduate from university, you must have read many books, right? You even know about the unpopular school of thoughts related to the three souls.” Charlie laughed in a self-deprecating manner and said, “I did not read many books. I have been struggling at the bottom of society for twenty years, so how could I have had so much time and energy to read more books? I only know about this because my father told me about it when I was young.”

He even paraded other women in front of me, claiming that even if he'd once loved me, he was justified in playing around now. I felt a deep sense of relief that I hadn't kept the child. Even if he married me, Charlie would have continued his sordid escapades. As their moans filled the air once again, I exited the interface and deleted the account. I ask. "Well, I've been telling you about Lily, mentioning her name even and I haven't told you mine yet. Call me Charlie," he does a sharp salute. "New York happened to Lily, that's what. And since you literally grew up here, I'm guessing you hade an idea of what I'm talking about." I shake my head. "There are a lot of things that could happen to someone, Charlie. And I cannot tell if you mean it in a positive or negative way."

He smiles at me and I ruffle his hair. “Hey Charlie, are you ok?” Little Charlie was left on the doorstep of the orphanage when he was a newborn. No one knows his origin, but I suspect he is a shifter of sorts, but not sure which kind. He has a skin condition that we haven’t been able to pinpoint. “Yeah, thank you, Gaia. You saved us all. I wanted to tell you a secret.” He whispered, and I look at him intently. “It’s ok sweetie, I want you all to be safe, loved and happy. What did you want to tell me?” I ask him and he looked at my belly and back at me.

He was parked at their driveway and he gave her a disappointing sigh while shaking his head. "I've been here for an hour, hurry up or we'll be late!" Charlie scolded Marjorie and she rolled her eyes. Despite everything bad that happened in her life, Charlie was one of the reasons why she didn't want to quit college. It is their second year and her last year she wanted to leave so badly because of all the bullying but when she met Charlie, he saved her from that nightmare.

A cute turned-up nose and sparkling brown eyes completed the wholesome picture. She was of average height and weight, yet Lizzy felt dwarfed by her confidence and strength. “You must be Lizzy.
