The Moon Chose Me Twice
“You fight a war and then you take what you want.”
Charlie turns her head just enough to meet my eyes again.
“I take you,” she breathes.
The words shove me over the edge.
I slam into her one last time and come hard, spilling deep, the release ripping through me like a snapped cable. I bite her shoulder to keep myself grounded, teeth sinking just enough to sting.
When I finally still, my breath is harsh and loud.
Charlie stays braced on the table, trembling, then slowly straightens. She turns in my arms, face flushed, eyes bright, mouth swollen from biting and being bitten. She looks like a woman who has survived something and refused to be ruined by it.
