Lucas shot up from his chair, shaking his head violently. “No! Please, you don’t need to do that,” he begged, tears spilling down his cheeks. “I didn’t do anything! Please believe me.”
Lena stood slowly, placing her hand on the desk. “Lucas,” she said softly, “if you’re innocent, you don’t have anything to be afraid of.”
Lucas pressed his hands to his face, his shoulders shaking. “I’m not afraid of the truth,” he sobbed. “I’m afraid of losing everything because of a mistake I didn’t make.”
