TWO DIFFERENT WORLDS
“But I’m going to get us out of this, okay?”
I took a sharp turn, hoping to lose them in the trees, but they were right behind us, relentless. Then, without warning, they slammed into the back of our car. The impact jolted us forward, and Elizabeth screamed, her hand tightening on my arm.
I fought to keep control of the car, but they hit us again, harder this time, sending us veering off the road. The world spun around us as the car skidded, and before I could react, we crashed headfirst into a tree.
