I dragged my fingers across their spines, imprinting their location in my mind. With quick hands, I shifted them to the last shelf in the middle row, then slipped my ring beside them, an easy marker for Silas later.
“Are you searching for something specific, Luna of Blackfang?” the maiden’s voice broke my concentration.
“Yes,” I said quickly, masking my nerves. “Inscriptions. I’m learning them.”
Her eyes lit up. “Wait here. I know just the thing.” She hurried off toward the far end of the library.
