It makes the divine feel less like distant forces and more like annoyingly powerful roommates. The power imbalance is still there, obviously, but it’s framed through these absurd, petty interactions.

It really digs into that idea of familiarity breeding a kind of contempt, or at least a total loss of awe. By the end, the ‘divine-human’ thing feels less like worship and more like a really weird customer service job where the clients can smite you.
