“This one is numbers. I’ll send it to you. Seems like there are over a dozen?” Maddox nodded. “I wonder if that is the rest of the information from the sheets he gave us. “Could be,” Cade said, pulling that one out and inserting another. “This one has two pictures..” He held out his phone to show Maddox. “I know him…” Both men looked down at me. “What?” “Yeah. The first guy. He was a regular at my shop. He owned a black Dodge Challenger and could come in regularly for tune ups.” Snapping my fingers together, his name finally clicked. “Clint… Clink Stevens.”

That son of a dick won’t live another second after he's going to put his hands on him. “Prick! I’m going to tear you to pieces!” Billy cussed and hit the wheel. He remembered Stephie's repulsed expression after seeing him that day, outside the company’s building. That should’ve been a clear sign that Stevens was a dangerous, mad man. From the first day he had arrived in New York, Billy realized that Stevens was the one who had knocked down the whole system of their branch there, but Billy didn’t say a word to Stephanie. He didn’t want to worry about her.

On the drive home, my mind drifted to Steven's parents. Steven's father, Rodger, was a stern man with kind eyes and he was a bank president. He had been unsure of me, but in our first conversation, I had won him over. Soon, he became like a father to me. But Steven's mother, Stephanie, was another matter altogether. She always scrutinized: my house wasn't clean enough, my car wasn't a Volvo. The fact that I owned a Mercedes was irrelevant. My hair wasn't neat enough. Looking back, I saw where Steven got his demanding demeanor from.

They were all activity reports that Ellen always gave him. And the thing that caught Stevens eyes right now was the dark blue diary that was at the bottom of the pile of white papers. The man's hand reached out to take the diary. Even though Stev knew, that was not his right and he should not read people's diaries carelessly. But that man still didn't want to care about it. At that time Stev opened the book. The first thing he saw was a photo of the three members. Himself, Lucy and Ellen. The man glanced at Ellen briefly before turning his attention back to the book in his hand again.

Stevens shook his head reluctantly, then said, “I… went in.” My head whipped toward him. “You what?” “I needed more information,” he muttered defensively. “You walked into a Mahesh-owned house alone,” I said flatly. “How much dumber can you get?” His jaw clenched, but he didn’t argue. “I had a cover story. It just didn't hold. I wasn't expecting Rowan to show up. He recognized me.” I shook my head, leaning back. “You’re lucky you’re breathing.” “You should search the van. There's something off about it. They've never used one this small.”

“Stevie is Abbadon. And Paulo. His true name is Lahash.” “And bear in mind, this is only human interpretation of who/what we are and the accounts that led us here. These are not concrete.” Ben added. I sat there perusing the books with titles like The Book of the Dead, Angels: The Fallen, Understanding Myth, The Book of Enoch, The Jubilees, and so on. Absently, I asked as I was paging through the books, “And why have Stevie and Paulo attached themselves to Carrie. Is she too an angel?”

Not realizing what’s his next move is, I’m in shock when he is quick to grab my manhood, “Listen, kid. You won’t get away from here easily, so if I were you, I would comply. Got it? He hissed through tight lips. Stevens is eight or ten years my senior, his aura is more powerful that mine. And though we are technically of equal ranks, I must bear my neck to him in respect. It’s killing me that I can’t here my wolf, nor feel his energy, to fight Beta Stevens. But I promised myself when the time comes, I will have my revenge. So I contained from fighting him now.

A giddy sense of excitement washed over him. “Hello!” Steven exclaimed. It was a reservation for this weekend at a place called ‘Lonestar’ in Charleville. He was missing the first page, but he did have an address. He wasn’t sure what he could do with the information, but he was certain a few more hits from Heath’s liquor cabinet would help him figure it out. But before he did that, Steven had one more thing to do. Walking through his son’s bedroom, Steven headed for the attached bathroom. The space was larger than the car he was currently living in.

I was heading toward the waiting shed outside the university to hail a taxi when a familiar car pulled up right in front of me. It was Theo's. He jumped out before the engine had even fully stopped, striding over to where I stood. I fixed him with a stare as sharp and cold as ice. Every ounce of my anger burned in my eyes. How dare he show up here like this? I thought bitterly.
