My eyes were burning and my fingers felt cramped from signing so many documents, but the Greenfield Project finally felt under control. We cleared the table in a tired silence and headed down to the car. The drive back to the mansion was quiet,I enjoyed the solitude with the city lights blurring past the windows. As the black Bentley pulled up to the massive iron gates, I noticed a car idling just outside. A girl was standing by the gate, pacing back and forth and looking at her watch. Chloe! She was dressed in a shimmering silver mini-dress, her hair done in high, bouncy pigtails. She looked ready to tear the roof off the party building.

“Girl… guess what?” The door slammed shut with unnecessary energy, and the sound echoed through the small London flat like a warning bell. On the couch, buried under a thin blanket, Zara Rahman groaned and dragged the pillow tighter over her head, as if that alone could block out Chloe Bennett’s voice. “Chloe,” she muttered, her voice thick with sleep, “if this is another one of your dramatic entrances—” “It is absolutely worth it,” Chloe cut in, breathless with excitement.

As the door swung open, a familiar face beamed back at her, bright and warm. “Chloe!” Michelle breathed, eyes wide with disbelief. The corners of her lips curled. Chloe Bennett laughed, pulling her into a tight hug before Michelle could say anything more. “Surprise! God, I missed you!” Michelle’s eyes stung, a choked laugh escaping as she hugged back fiercely. “I can’t believe you’re here.” Chloe pulled back slightly, her grin softening. “Believe it, babe. I’m back for good.” Her eyes searched Michelle’s face, her concern was evident. “But damn, you look like you’ve been through hell. What’s going on?”

She reached out, but Sadie took a stumbling step back; that was a mistake. She could clearly see the wheels turning in Chloe’s eyes. Her eyes then drifted to the phone, to the video playing over and over again of her kissing Bennett. And it seemed there was an acceptance in Chloe’s face that she had been caught. “Sadie—” “—You! It was you all this time?” “Okay, before you start acting stupid, give me the phone, Sadie. You are in the middle of nowhere.” Chloe warned, and Sadie took a step back; yet she turned to see that her driver and bodyguards were both in dark masks.

Only two maids were in the kitchen whom she didn't recognize.

"With the house in this state? And while your husband is working himself to the bone in another country? It seems very selfish, Elena. But I suppose I shouldn't expect anything else." The front door opened, and Chloe marched in. she was wearing bright sunglasses and a colorful dress that made Eleanor look like a gray cloud. "Morning, everyone!" Chloe chirped. She didn't wait for an invitation. She walked over to me and grabbed my arm. "Ready, El? The car is running, and I’ve got a massive craving for cucumber water and peace and quiet." Eleanor gave Chloe a look that would have frozen a volcano. "Miss... Chloe, was it? I was just telling Elena that she has responsibilities here."

Chloe's lips curled into a strange smile. Her expression was innocent as she said, "Helen, what are you talking about? I don't understand. By the way, I heard Northbourne Heights' project is wrapping up soon. Why don't you hand it over to me? Perhaps I won't have the time to hang out with men if I'm busy." She raised her eyebrows, wearing a look of disdain. I grabbed her by the collar and said coldly, "It's just the two of us here. Do you really think you can take me on?"
