She moved like a predator closing in on wounded prey. "Hey guys, I’m back with Athena Cole!" Chloe announced to her livestream, her voice pitched at an aggressive, upbeat register. "So, Athena, the cheating rumors were totally dropped this morning. Care to give us an exclusive on how it feels to get cleared by the board, or are you still giving very much guilty vibes?" I stepped left to bypass her, but the camera followed my movement with predatory speed. Chloe blocked my path again, her expression hungry for a reaction, her thumb hovering over the ‘share’ button.

She is twenty-four, three years younger than me, but sometimes she looks fifteen with that baby face and huge blue eyes. She saw the students laughing and holding up the fake photos. Her heart burned with intense rage and deep, protective love for her best friend.
