Christmas Karen Novels & Stories

"So when you told Hayley that you know where she can help children out, you mean an orphanage?" "Yes, exactly!" Korina giggled like a child. And now that I knew her a tad bit better…I didn’t feel as threatened for having her near Hayley any longer. "Miss Korina," Hayley called out to her, thankfully joining the conversation because as okay as I was to talk to a stranger, I wasn’t very good at making awkward small talk. "Yes, honey?" Korina turned her entire attention to Hayley. "What do you think I'll be getting for Christmas?” Hayley asked without hesitation. “Miss Kathleen says Santa Claus would visit me and that he likes cookies and milk. Has he ever visited you before?"

Chapter 1 Ella Whitmore MERRY CHRISTMAS, JASPER. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. My cheeks burned hot with excitement as I clutched the gift box tightly, reading the inscription on the back one more time before struggling to insert the key into the keyhole. I had been planning this surprise for weeks. Christmas eve was finally here, and I just couldn't wait to see the look Jasper would have on his face when he realized that I actually got him the wristwatch he'd always admired.

She stood at the corner, arms folded, smile sharp as a glass ornament. Jace straightened instantly. I stepped back so fast I nearly tripped. Bianca’s gaze flicked between us — my swollen lips, his disheveled hair, the distance that wasn’t nearly enough. Her smile widened slowly. “Oh,” she said lightly. “This is going to be… fun.” And just like that… I knew: Christmas was about to get a whole lot worse.

K Has to be K for Karen, that’s Lessia’s undercover name. But, before I could figure out what was happening, the phone began to ring. My fingers fumbled over the screen, but I managed to answer and hit speaker. Maximus must have noticed, because he already had a pen and pad ready. “Hey Karen,” I said in a bright, casual tone. “I’m so excited to see you tonight! It’s been ages since our last night out.” There was a pause before Karen replied, “Hey, Annabelle, sorry babe. I have to cancel.”

It was quiet. "What she said." Dean said. "I love you guys so much!" Chris sniffed and hugged me. "We love you too, Chris." * * * * "Grace! Darling!" Aunt Karen, who was looking stunning in a silver glitter dress, ran to hug me. "Happy birthday Karen!" I hugged her. "You look absolutely amazeballs!" We both pulled away. "Here's your gift." I handed it to her. "I hope you'd like it." "Aw, thank you so much dear." Then her eyes darted to Dean. "Is this fine young man your boyfriend?"

“My friend Jen was talking about some private investor from Indianapolis who’s in town right now, trying to get a feel for how we do Christmas at Christmas Falls. She heard he’s considering buying a few properties and fixing them up. For what, she didn’t say, but he doesn’t seem like the sort of big, greedy corporate fair you’re trying to avoid. Maybe you should talk to him.” “Maybe you should worry about your own self,” Memory said back without turning her head, and Kirsten sighed loudly while Bryce told her to let it go, prompting Lorelei to break into the theme song from Frozen which had them all laughing, including Memory, despite her frustration at her sister’s suggestion. Memory watche

“I had a son named Damian. He died in Mexico.” Karen was too drained to be sympathetic. “I’m sorry,” she blurted nonchalantly. “But this guy is alive. I saw him just yesterday.” “If you saw him yesterday, why come here asking?” Karen wanted to vent her anger and frustrations on him but she knew better than that. She sighed. “I met him here. He’s tall, muscular-“ “Listen, Chicka. I would love to chat but I’ve got a lot to do tonight. Plenty customers, few workers. I’ve seen a lot of tall, muscular men. I can’t help you find your lover…or brother.”

The words stabbed softly, slowly and deeply. I forced a smile. “Maybe she’s right,” I thought bitterly. “Maybe that’s why Ryan cheated…” But then I reminded myself... I had someone else now. Someone who wanted to spend Christmas with me. Thinking of Lucien made the sting fade a little. Dinner dragged on but I stayed busy. "Oh my goodness, I didn't know you had it in you to be a comedian Jason," Karen gasped. "Anything for my woman," I smirk. "So, you think that calling off the engagement was just me throwing a fit? You think it's just about me needing your attention so much that I am desperate?" She shakes her head and rolls her eyes.
