“...Let's go home." Without sparing Ciara another glance, the two of them got into the car. Leaving Ciara standing alone. Surrounded by nothing, except the shredded remains of the divorce papers she'd been so certain would separate them. For the first time in years, Ciara lowered her head. She stared at the shredded pieces of divorce papers, each torn fragment felt like another piece of authority slipping through her fingers. Her hands trembled. Not with rage. With helplessness. She had spent years believing she could fix everything.

Ciara's POV The divorce papers sat on my mother’s antique dining table. I stared at the crisp white sheets, my husband's signature already dry on the final page. Freedom. Or what should have felt like freedom. Instead, it felt... like a larger prison. So, this was the unpleasant surprise that made me catch a quick flight across the city like a crazy mad woman without informing anyone. I thought my mom was sick... I thought something bad had happened to our home... I thought...

Ciara said, standing up to Samuel. “What are you talking about?” Samuel asked. “You freaking left me here to get married to Linda Luscious! Quit acting like I am stupid or something,” Ciara blew hot. “The last time I checked, we were still married. The least you could have done was annul our marriage at least,” Ciara said, her anger making her confident.

Seeing that I remained unmoved, he added, "I know you can't forgive me right away, but I promise I'll resign soon. I'll spend more time with you and Oscar to make up for my mistakes."
