My stomach twisted. “All done,” Cecilia said, circling around me until her eyes locked with mine. “Oh, goddess… You’re so beautiful,” she breathed. “Your hazel eyes are the most striking I’ve ever seen.” She clapped as though truly excited and hurried to grab a small mirror, thrusting it toward me. I took it and gasped at the woman staring back. I didn’t know my hair could shine like this. It was glossy and luscious, each curl smooth and alive. The red framed my face perfectly, and my hazel eyes seemed to pop like polished gemstones. My lips, naturally red and naturally plump, looked almost painted.

When I looked up, my gaze locked onto his. His eyes captured me, a mesmerizing contradiction. One a brilliant cerulean, reminiscent of the clearest summer sky, vibrant and alive. It sparkled with an intensity that felt as though it held the secrets of the universe, radiating warmth and clarity. It drew me in like the inviting depths of the ocean, whispering of adventure and discovery.

Ciel was looking out the window as his fingers rested on his knee, in such a way that it made her something she had not before. He was poised in a way that seemed natural, his smallest movement of his body sheied control and confidence. She was amazed he still kept up that kind of bravada with her. Is he not supposed to be relaxed around her? She was jolted back to reality when she heard his voice. “You keep staring at me,” he said with a low voice, and without raising his eyes to look at her. She was embarrassed. “No, I was just…” “Just checking me out?” He completed it for her as he turned to finally face her, his blue silver eyes with a glint of amusement.
