Chapter 20 Near Death As our flight lands, on a rainy night, in the busy city of New Orleans. At the airport, Lucas waves down a taxi after getting our luggage into the car, we head to our home, Lucas telling her all about scuttlebutt. But just as we're about to merge into traffic, a large truck slams into the side of the taxi, sending glass shattering and metal crunching. Bella's heart races as she mind-links with her father, King Kieran, for help.

"All this assumes you even make it through the journey." I frowned at her. "What do you mean?" "The place you're going is called Ember Hallow. People have sought answers there, but only a handful have returned. Those who do are often changed, not themselves anymore. Some go mad, others are forever silent.
