Now the slab city is the heart of the black market. Hundreds of stolen and rare products could be find out there. it is as like the city breaths on its own. It could be only accessed by the land and no other ways. We silently entered the town as we disguised ourselves as regular humans. Although we are supernatural and completely different from humans, one couldn’t distinguish from another without the aid of special tools.

{EDMONDO'S POV} * * The streets are quiet at this hour. The kind of quiet that only comes when the night is almost dead and dawn hasn’t yet begun to stir. It’s 3 a.m., maybe 4. This is when the filth of Trento starts crawling back to their holes. Thieves, burglars, scavengers; they think they’re safe now, that no one is watching. But in this city, I see everything. Most of the thieves in Trento work under me. They know the rules: take what I allow, stay in the shadows, and never cross me.

Thousand Jade City was a city of cultivators that was fairly densely populated. Even though there wasn't a single sect that stood above the territory of the Thousand Jade City, it didn't make the city a weak security. As long as the city was standing, there had never been a riot that ended fatally because Thousand Jade City was a city managed by a combination of five neutral white middle sects. As the seventh largest trading city in the entire Immortal Continent, Thousand Jade City had a reputation high enough to discourage anyone from causing trouble there.

I had my own problems, and none of them had anything to do with whatever curse had taken over this godforsaken city. I moved quickly, blending into the crowd, keeping my face low, my hands stiff. The coins in my pouch felt heavier, my fingers twitching to touch, to make sure they were still real, but there was more to steal. There was always more to take. “Watch where you’re going!” A rough hand gripped my arm, pulling me to a stop. I glanced up. Tall, broad-shouldered, and wearing the insignia of the city guard. “Do you have a problem, soldier?”

And that someone might still be here. As if in response to that thought, something crashed on the floor above. Jackson jumped up and tightened his grip on the gun. There were plenty of thieves in a big city like this, but most committed petty crimes of opportunity - picking pockets, scamming tourists, and the like. No one barged into a guest house and knocked out the owner unless they were after something specific. And anyone who targeted the Set wasn't playing any games. He was at the base of the stairs in two strides. But before he could charge up, two men - men who were certainly not any of his teammates - came bolting down.

~Rose~ I had woken up to an empty apartment, still wearing my clothes from yesterday. I was stadning by the window with a cup of coffee in my hands, looking out over the city. The people were moving around beneath me, going to their destinations, and some, wondering what their destination was. How did my life take this turn? How did I go from making a living by stealing from people, to signing a contract, giving myself to a cold-hearted, gazilionare-CEO?

It doesn’t numb the pain, not yet anyway. I take another shot before going to the window and looking out over the kingdom. The view on this side of the castle is different. From here, I can see the place where I chased the thief last night. I can see the cliff where the thief leapt. When I first saw him jump, I thought it was suicide. Then, a bronze dragon caught him and flew him away. Just one more confirmation that the thief is a rider. The next morning, I’m up and dressed, ready to meet with my father’s advisors and see what needs to be done, when I hear trumpets heralding the approach of someone. A moment later, I hear someone running to my bedroom before there’s a knock at my door.

The rain had stopped, but the damp cold of the night still clung to the city like a shroud. Dante and Lily stood at the edge of the industrial district, the skeletal silhouette of the collapsed warehouse behind them a monument to a life he no longer claimed. They were nobodies now—no high-speed escapes, no private security details, no legal team to clean up the blood. They were just two figures in the thinning gray light of dawn, standing in the heart of a city that was about to find out exactly what happens when a monster is stripped of his cage.

The scent of Coldwater had changed. It no longer smelled like the heavy, stagnant tension of a city under Silas Thorne's thumb; it smelled like ozone, wet pavement, and the sharp, metallic tang of an impending storm. As the pack crossed the city limits, the familiar red-brick landscape of the industrial district looked different in the gray morning light. The power vacuum left by Thorne's death and Marcus's arrest had turned the streets into a chessboard where the remaining minor gangs were already scrambling for the pieces.
