He groaned as I shifted in his lap , as I could feel a hard thing pricking me underneath…making me squirm. “So my mum called this morning, and told me about the brunch she wants us to come to… on Tuesday,” I started, monitoring his reaction. “and she invited your bro— stepbrother.” I almost choked on the word. He didn't react at first, or say anything. Just kept quiet. “We don't have to go, honestly.” I added, pecking his cheek. “Brunch with your family? And that bastard was invited? He just doesn't know when to stop.” He scoffed and looked away.

Or maybe I was exaggerating. But I had no idea the man I called my stepbrother would be so angry about it. He wasn’t just mad that I came to his office—he was furious that I introduced myself as his stepsister. And he made that very clear within seconds of me entering. “I’m your stepbrother?
