Unit 40B was not a home. It was a sterile, terrifyingly expensive box. The floors were gray marble, polished to such a high shine that they looked like ice. The furniture was black leather and chrome, with sharp edges that seemed designed to discourage anyone from getting comfortable. The walls were floor-to-ceiling glass, offering a panoramic view of the frozen city, but the windows were triple-paned and didn't open. The air inside was filtered, recycled, and smelled of absolutely nothing.
