You’ve got nothing but promises!” Claire pushed forward, her blonde curls bouncing, her lips painted red, her cloak parting to show a tight dress beneath. “Enough!” she snapped, her hands planting on her hips, her eyes flashing at the crowd. “Stop tearing into him, he’s doing what he can. You’re all just whining.”

Alice stared at Cliff, remaining silent. At that moment, Cliff stepped closer. His cold hand touched Alice’s face, and he smiled faintly as if about to say something. But Alice abruptly swatted his hand away with a forceful motion. Cliff froze, staring at his palm before looking back at Alice. By then, Alice had stepped back. Her cold gaze was fixed on him, though her reddened eyes betrayed her lingering emotions. Seeing this, Cliff looked slightly startled. Then, a strange, almost manic smile appeared on his lips—a smile that reminded her of Louis in an uncanny way.

She breathed out and gave a small smile. "I mean, right away sir." She said with a small bow before she left. What was that all about? Just about a second ago she was blazing hot with anger, huffing and puffing like a tigress ready to take down her prey and then everything disappeared and was replaced with a simple smile? His hands were on his shoulder now, and there wasn’t any noise he was hearing but the sound of his fast heartbeat. When they felt that they were running out of breath, they pulled away, gasping for air. Lincoln looked at him, lips stretched into a smile. Shun felt like it was the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen in his life. No one said anything, but it wasn’t an awkward silence. They just stared at each other.
