She was a tomboy, her black hair cropped short and her ears glinting with multiple silver piercings. It still seemed odd to see her with her natural hair colour – back before the Eternal Winter, before our trade with the other packs had dried up, she’d dyed her hair pastel pink. Tattoos inked her whole body, with the words love and hate across each set of knuckles respectively. She flexed the hand with hate on and smirked up at me.

Her friend pointed toward the old metal clock mounted in the stairwell, its hands ticking steadily toward the hour. "Well, I have to go," Harley said, a hint of reluctance in her voice. "It was really nice meeting you, Jack. Maybe we'll bump into each other again."

Harley, her half-sister, clung to Alaric's arm, her eyes gleaming with a malevolent light as she pretended to plead for Elona. "Please, Alaric, don't be too hard on her. She's just a child," Harley cooed, her voice dripping with insincerity. Alaric's face twisted in disgust as he shoved Elona away. "Disappear from Kings City before I destroy you," he snarled. "I'm sparing your life for Harley's sake."

Lucas nodded once and guided me over toward the person he was just talking to. “Ellie,” he said, “this is Hanna, the coordinator for this event. She’s a long-time healer specializing in rogue and Omega care.” The woman had a kind face and wore a sleek suit with a pencil skirt. She shook my hand and asked me some questions about my studies, which I answered honestly. “A healer fresh out of the academy would be a great boon to our organization,” she said once I’d told her my graduation date. “And a Luna, no less.”
