How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

There was a murmur of agreement. “Do you really think I could possibly have a lower opinion of you?” I physically felt Dudley tense up as killing intent bore into the back of my neck. “I don’t mean just Flossie. All of you. And me too — I include myself. We are completely out of our element here. Clueless doesn’t even begin to describe it. But the rules here are so screwed up, stupid could actually be the way to go. Asking a question, no matter how dumb, isn’t going to make things worse.” “You say that,” said Claire, “but you always seem to be handling it. And usually you’re doing something sneaky. And manipulative. And underhanded.”

Wildwood: The veins of the earth

Wildwood: The veins of the earth

⸻ Clara’s Discovery: The Tether Broken Hours passed before Clara’s fingers trembled as they turned the brittle pages of the ancient text she had unearthed from the ruins beneath Hollow Hill. She was no closer to understanding the full scope of the threat—but with each passage, each fragment of truth she pieced together, the situation grew grimmer.

Clara's Mystery

Clara's Mystery

I had those thoughts about us. ‘Now that the chase is over, there’s nothing else for us to look forward to.’ ‘What gave you that idea?’ he frowned. ‘Did I do anything that gave you any indication that this is going to end? Or that this ends here?’ Clara shrugged and sighed, then shook her head no. ‘I know I’m stupid and insecure. I’ve never had anyone like you, confident, handsome, congenial, and well-liked by everyone. There’s nothing wrong with you, nothing to fix, and I do not know what to do with myself. It makes me scared to think that you settled for less when you asked me to be yours.’

Shameless plug here from your author. I hope follow Clara's adventures as she struggles to find her real parents and maybe the love of her life. Don't hesitate to leave me any comments, and don't forget to add this book to your library. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I really love this book! I love the chemistry between Sebastian and Clara, as well as how clara thinks and the fact that he is one of those women who say no to oppression and stand up for herself. Looking forward to continue reading the next chapters

I think Ginger might help.”

Everyday For The Thief: A Chaotic and Poetic Mafia Romance

“And I can be uhh ...fun. You are not alone. You have access to all amenities.” “Right,” Claudine muttered, running a hand through her hair, sighing. “Just me, and the army of invisible helpers. Fantastic. At least it’s not a dog-eat-dog world here, just a cat-and-mouse one, with me as the mouse, no doubt.” She sighed again. “Well, since Hades decided to play world traveler without telling his royal consort, I suppose I’ll explore his kingdom. Does this place have a secret bunker? Or maybe a room full of puppies? Something to make this abandonment feel less... pointless?”

I'm giving it a 5 star because I loveeeee the author's writing style. I also love the characters! Especially the Male Lead. He's domineering and hot. Let's not even talk about the suspense. It just keeps you goinggg. Off to read more

The Pieces She Left Behind

The Pieces She Left Behind

More porous. She read. The novel was about a woman named Clare who grew up in a loud house and learned silence as a survival skill and then spent her twenties mistaking silence for strength. It was about Clare's mother, who had been beautiful and frightened and had made herself small in ways that left no room for Clare to be large. It was about Clare falling in love with someone who saw her and did not know what to do with being seen. It was, Mara understood now with the clarity of six more years and one catastrophic October, extremely autobiographical.

Midnight Sins: A Spicy Compilation

Midnight Sins: A Spicy Compilation

The heavy steel door of "The Obsidian" muffled the roar of the city, replacing it with a low-frequency thrum that Clara felt in her teeth. The air inside was thick, tasting of expensive leather, ozone, and a musk so potent it made her lightheaded. Clara was a woman of quiet habits and ironed pleats, but tonight, she had stepped across the threshold into a world that didn't care for politeness. She stood in the shadows of the velvet-draped foyer, her heart a frantic bird against her ribs, her knuckles white as she gripped the strap of her clutch.

The Unseen Husband

The Unseen Husband

THE UNSEEN HUSBAND Sebastian found the journal by accident. It was three days after the confrontation with Helena, and he'd been looking for a book to read to the children before bed. Alessia had mentioned keeping some books in the chest by the window, so he'd opened it without thinking. Inside, beneath a few worn volumes, was a leather-bound journal. He almost closed the chest immediately—it was clearly private, clearly Alessia's—but the page it was open to caught his eye. Not because of nosiness, but because of the handwriting. The same careful script from the letters Helena had intercepted, but this time formed into poetry.

MY STEPBROTHERS, MY RUIN

MY STEPBROTHERS, MY RUIN

“And you were wrong, as it turned out. But you spent years not knowing you were wrong.” “Yes,” Anya said. “Write that,” Clara said. “I don’t know how to write it without it sounding like a crisis memoir,” Anya said. “It wasn’t a crisis. It was quieter and stranger than a crisis and harder in some ways because there was nothing to point to, nothing that was wrong, just this nameless —” “Say what you just said,” Clara said. “In the book. Exactly what you just said. Quieter and stranger than a crisis. That’s the sentence.”

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

My immediate pick is 'ingenuous'—it has that quiet, layered quality literary fiction loves. To me, 'ingenuous' suggests more than simple cluelessness: it implies sincerity, a lack of guile, and a worldview that can be both disarming and painfully honest. In novels that dig into inner life, calling a character 'ingenuous' lets an author explore moral complexity without turning the character into a caricature. It reads like an invitation to empathize rather than to mock.

When I read stories where the narrator or protagonist is learning, misstepping, or seeing the world through an unfiltered lens, 'ingenuous' preserves dignity. Compare that to words like 'obtuse' or 'benighted'—those feel harsher and flatten the character into a target. 'Naive' is close, but can sometimes sound judgmental; 'ingenuous' keeps a softer, more interpretive tone, which is why I tend to favor it. I find it opens up scenes to subtle irony and emotional resonance, which is exactly what I want from great literary fiction.
