I waited for him to sip it and tell me what he thinks. He might not like how I prepared it since he's bipolar. Jessica followed suit. I walked Jasmine back to her house and headed toward the coffee shop on her street. Amidst all the tension, I just wanted to finish my essay on Macbeth. The bell on the door jingled as I walked into the coffee shop, the smell of freshly brewed coffee hitting me instantly. I made my way to the counter, where a barista with deep blue eyes and brown hair greeted me with a genuine smile. “Hi, what can I get you?” he asked. “I'll have two shots of espresso over ice, to go” I replied, my mind already focused on the essay I needed to finish on Macbeth.

Did he figure out what I was trying to do? The small facade of the cafe was freshly painted in dark blue, with golden scripted letters flashing the signage “A Cup Of Joy”. Dominic pushed the transparent glass door open that made a jingling sound and as I stepped inside, a blanket of warm air touched my face and the smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted my nose.

Nicole’s POV The local coffee shop had always been our sanctuary. It was a cozy, familiar little place nestled just a few blocks away from the main university gates, filled with the comforting hum of the espresso machine, the gentle, rhythmic clinking of ceramic mugs, and the rich, heavy aroma of roasted coffee beans. Usually, the moment I stepped through the door, the ambient warmth and the soft indie acoustic music playing from the ceiling speakers would instantly wash away whatever academic stress I had been carrying. It was the one place where the rest of the world felt like it could wait.

I didn't want to interrupt her, so I quietly left the workshop, exited the shop, and went in search of refreshing drinks. Delicious smells wafted from the open door of the coffee shop. I followed the scent and found myself standing in front of a large green menu board advertising too many types of drinks, both hot and cold. I'll get Coco a big bottle of water, a soda for myself, and a brownie for both of them. The woman has already earned a whole pan of cakes, and she hasn't even finished yet.

I tried to sound less shy than I really felt. He replied with a lazy grin, "Cognac when I can. Our conversations flowed effortlessly, and by the time our tour concluded, I had forgotten my initial nervousness. "Well, Sophia," Jason said, his tone playful, "that concludes our thrilling expedition through the hallowed halls of the Creative Writing department. Any final thoughts?" I grinned, feeling at ease around him. "I'm definitely looking forward to being part of this quirky, caffeine-fueled world." He chuckled. "Quirky is right. And trust me, caffeine will be your most reliable companion."

Quin was still at daycare. The café was warm and welcoming, filled with the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sweet pastries. Soft music drifted through the air while quiet conversations blended into a comforting background hum. Sunlight poured through the large front windows, making the polished wooden tables glow. In front of me sat the banana bread latte I had ordered. It had been every bit as delicious as it sounded, with hints of cinnamon, vanilla, and warm banana bread lingering on my tongue long after my last sip. It was easily one of the best coffees I had ever tasted.

The barista smiled and said, "I have no idea, but I'm sure it'll be interesting. And hey, if you ever need any more coffee or advice, you know where to find me." I smiled and said, "Thanks, I appreciate it. And who knows, maybe I'll even write a book about my experiences as a celebrity." The barista laughed and said, "Now that's a book I'd definitely read," the barista said, chuckling. "Just think of the title: 'From Writer to Celebrity: A Tale of Chaos and Coffee'." I laughed and said, "Hey, that's not a bad title! Maybe I'll have to use that."
