登入I arrived at the address the professor gave me and stared at the gorgeous mansion. The sprawling estate looked like something straight out of a magazine, with towering stone walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and perfectly manicured gardens surrounding the property. Luxury and power radiated from every corner of the magnificent home.
As I stepped inside, a woman rushed over to me. The elderly woman appeared to be in her late sixties, with silver-streaked hair neatly pinned into a bun. Fine wrinkles framed her kind face, and despite her age, she moved with surprising speed and energy.
"Doctor Miles?"
"Yes..."
"Come quickly!"
She grabbed my hand and pulled me along as we both ran toward a room.
"Mister Adam, the doctor is here!"
I looked toward the bed, and my stomach filled with butterflies. The man was cleaning the wound on his side, which appeared to be claw marks, and grunting in pain. Thick brown hair fell slightly over his forehead, framing a face that looked almost unfairly handsome. His sharp jawline, high cheekbones, and piercing silver eyes gave him an intimidating yet captivating appearance that was impossible to ignore.
"I told you not to call for a doctor!"
He glared at me, and everything froze for a second. His silver eyes stared into my blue ones, and a feeling of electricity shot through my body.
"Please help him."
The caretaker's voice brought me back to my senses, and I rushed over to the man.
"Let me do my job, and I'll leave."
I said directing my words to the man as I touched his arm, which made my heart skip a beat. The moment our skin met, a strange warmth spread through my entire body. It felt as though every nerve ending had suddenly awakened, sending waves of awareness through me. My pulse quickened, and for a brief moment, the world around us seemed to fade away.
"You're a werewolf."
Adam whispered. His voice was low and rough with emotion, carrying a note of surprise that mirrored my own reaction. The intensity in his eyes suggested that whatever I had felt when we touched, he had felt it too.
I ignored his comment and inspected the wound. A clear liquid oozed out, and I could smell wolfsbane in his blood.
"Shit."
I muttered under my breath and quickly dug through my bag, then prepared a syringe to extract the liquid. The man watched me quietly, and it felt as though his eyes could see through my clothes.
"Sir, I'm going to need you to remove your shirt."
"I got into a fight."
He explained as he started undoing the buttons of his shirt.
"I didn't know his claws were laced with wolfsbane."
I nodded as he pulled off his shirt.
His chest was covered in faint burns and bruises that clearly did not result from the fight. Broad shoulders, defined muscles, and years of disciplined training had sculpted his body into something that belonged on the cover of a fitness magazine. Even injured, he looked impossibly attractive.
He smirked as I stared at his toned abs while treating him.
"The wolfsbane has entered your blood. I'm going to have to heal you instead."
"You're a werewolf salutary?"
"Yes, now I need you to relax."
I held my hands over Adam's wound and closed my eyes. I focused and imagined his wounds healing.
Energy flowed from my hands, and the wound healed. The familiar sensation washed over me as warmth spread through my palms. It felt like drawing light from deep within my soul and gently weaving it into another person's body. Every healing reminded me of why I had become a doctor in the first place.
"Thank you."
Adam said so softly that I almost thought I had imagined it.
As I opened my eyes, I felt a bit light-headed and grabbed onto his arm to steady myself. The instant I touched him, Adam's breathing stopped. His muscles visibly tensed beneath my fingers, and his silver eyes widened for the briefest moment before he quickly composed himself.
"Sorry. Using my power takes a lot out of me."
I quickly let go of him and stood up.
"Please prepare a meal for the doctor and me."
Adam said instead as he looked behind me at the old woman.
"Yes, sir."
The woman quickly walked off, and Adam smiled at me.
"You must stay for dinner."
"That is very thoughtful, but I must decline."
"I want to thank you for healing me. Please... it's the least I can do."
My shift at the hospital was over by this time, so I would just go home and have a microwave dinner alone.
"I would love to stay for dinner."
I hear myself say as if I wasn't in control of my own mouth.
"Excellent. Let me just change my shirt, then we'll head down."
He stood up and walked over to the wardrobe. I couldn't help but stare at him while he wasn't looking. The muscles on his back flexed as he moved, and as my eyes traveled lower, they landed on his tight ass.
I wonder how he looks without those jeans on.
The thought entered my mind and I quickly shoved it away. What was I thinking?
Adam looked back at me and smirked as he caught me staring. My cheeks grew warm.
"Ready?"
"Yup. My caretaker makes an excellent stir-fry dish. You aren't vegetarian, are you?"
Adam led the way as we walked down the hallway. The hallway stretched endlessly before us, decorated with expensive artwork, polished marble floors, and elegant chandeliers that cast a warm golden glow over everything.
"No, I do love my meat."
"I guess that comes from the wild part of our kind."
"How could you tell I was a werewolf so easily?"
"Instinct, I guess."
Adam shrugged as we walked into the dining room. He pulled out a chair for me and pushed it in once I sat down.
"How long have you been practicing as a doctor?"
"Just over seven years."
"I've never met such a young salutary."
"My healing ability came to me earlier than it should have. At ten years old, I was already healing injured animals without realizing what was happening."
"Have you found your mate?"
Adam suddenly asked, changing the topic. His silver eyes locked onto mine with startling intensity. It felt as though he could see beyond my words, searching for answers hidden deep within my soul.
"Uhm, no. I wouldn't know what it would even feel like to find my mate."
I answered honestly, looking away from his magnetic gaze.
The caretaker walked in and placed a plate of food in front of Adam and me. The rich aroma of sizzling vegetables, tender strips of meat, garlic, and savory sauce immediately filled the room. Bright colors from the fresh ingredients made the dish look just as delicious as it smelled.
"Enjoy."
She beamed before walking off away, leaving us alone once again.
While I ate, Adam watched me and sipped his glass of wine.
"What would you like to know about me?"
The image of Adam's chest flashed through my mind.
"I noticed there were burns and bruises on your chest. How were they inflicted? I can't figure it out."
Adam smirked, and his eyes glowed with passion.
"Do you know what BDSM is, Doctor?"
"I know of it."
"The bruises are from whips and the burns from a lighter."
"Oh, I see."
I nodded and fell back into silence. My curiosity sparked, and I wanted to know more. Questions began racing through my mind faster than I could organize them. The subject was unfamiliar to me, yet strangely intriguing, and I found myself wanting to understand the mysterious side of him that he had just revealed.
"How does it work?"
I asked quietly, summoning up the courage to look back into his eyes once more.
Adam seemed excited that I was interested. A small smile played on his lips.
“I am no longer the Alpha of Wildcrest Pride.”I declared.“Oh, I know.”The old woman chuckled.“Then you must know why I am here.”“Yes. To ask about your future. To find out about your past. To learn the truth.”“Yes. I want to know if Maylea and I can be together.”The old woman tilted her head and stared at me. Then she suddenly turned her head towards the forest, alarmed.“We are not alone.”I looked past the trees, but I couldn’t sense or see anyone, even with my power.“Who is there? I can’t sense the presence of another.”I questioned.“She hides away from us. Do not fear, child… she will not harm you,” the old woman replied.“Is she afraid of me?”I looked back into the forest and shook my head. The werewolf seer could sense something I could not.&ldqu
Mason’s Point of ViewI became conscious as someone grabbed onto me.“Alpha! Just hold on; we’ll get you to the infirmary,” Jarrod said.More hands grabbed hold of my body and helped Jarrod lift me off the ground. I could barely focus as I opened my eyes and watched blurred figures stare down at me. My head fell to the side, and I stared at Callum’s lifeless body.“Sorry, kid…” I whispered as I remember, “Maylea!”The events of what happened sparked in my memory. Callum was dead, Maylea had shifted, and Quingot what she wanted… her sister.“We have to get her back!”I yelled. The werewolves carrying me held me firmly in their arms.“You are in no shape to go after Maylea! By now, they are already back in Dart Legionterritory!” Jarrod argued.“I accepted her as my mate… I have to get h
“I’m dying, Maylea,” Callum said.“No, please don’t say that.”Callum groaned, and his eyes fluttered closed. He dropped his hand, and I cried out as I felt like my heart had shattered into a million pieces.“Callum, stay with me! Please!”He opened his eyes and stared into mine.“I will always love you, Maylea. You need to be with Astrid. Promise me that you will accept her as your mate.”“I promise.”I cried.Astrid grunted as my sister bit into her and cut her claws into the Demon Alpha’s side. Astrid was losing the fight.“Help her, Maylea. Save her life,” Callum pleaded.I watched as the life drained from Callum’s eyes. I screamed as I held onto his body and begged for him to wake up.I pressed my ear against Callum’s chest, desperately listening for the sound of his heartbeat. It was weak and uneven
The dining hall was decorated with different shades of pink cloth and hundreds of roses. There were even rose petals scattered across the floor, and all of the werewolves stood up as I walked in. The music changed, and I lifted my head with a smile. As I walked down the aisle, I stared at Callum as he waited under a rose-covered arch. He looked so handsome in his mint green tux and white bowtie. He had a voluminous smile on his lips as he stared at me.Jarrod let go of my arm as I reached Callum and went to sit down with all of the other werewolves. My eyes darted to Astrid, who stood next to Callum as his best woman… but Astrid quickly looked away.“You are the world’s most gorgeous bride,” Callum said.Callum smiled at me with tears in his eyes, and I focused my attention back on him.“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of this man and woman,” the werewolf announced, and everyone
Maylea’s Point of ViewI woke up early the following day as a group of female werewolves walked into Astrid’s room. I rubbed my eyes and yawned.“Morning, Maylea. I hope you slept well,” Jarrod said.“What’s going on?”I was still half asleep as he pulled the blankets off me. Everyone in the room excitedly smiled and stared at me while I stood up.“Today is your wedding day, and these lovely ladies are here to help you get ready,” Jarrod explained.I nodded and felt my heart sink. I loved Callum and wanted to marry him… but not this soon. Yet, Astrid insisted the wedding would be today.“I know you might feel a bit scared, but it will be okay. You have to be brave right now,” Jarrod said.Jarrod smiled at me and walked off. He left me with the women, who insisted I shower, shave, and wash my hair while they sorted out everything else.
Astrid’s Point of ViewMy head was throbbing as I walked down the passageway.Maylea loves me… but she would rather die to save my life.I just needed to get away for a bit. Jarrod stopped me in the passage and looked at the burns on my skin from Maylea’s blood.“I can smell her blood… is Maylea okay?” Jarrod asked.“Yes. I just need to be alone, Jarrod. Excuse me.”“I have news.”“I don’t care.”I walked off when Jarrod called out.“It’s about the Dart Legion pack.”I stopped, and he continued to explain.“Our spies have sent word that Quin knows that you have her sister. They plan to attack in a few days, but nothing has been officially declared,” Jarrod explained.“A war is on the way… so tomorrow we will celebrate with a marriage. Then afterwards&hel
He stepped closer and stared into my eyes. The air between us seemed to crackle with electricity. Every nerve in my body came alive beneath his gaze, and my heart pounded so hard that I was certain he could hear it."Wait, Adam..." The words died on my lips as his scent surrounded me."Why do you k
Adam's friend stood up to shake my hand as we approached the table."Hello, ladies. I'm Roy. Nice to meet you.""I'm Nadia, and that's Abby." I smiled at him and shook his hand."Hey." Abby smiled too, her cheeks a bit more flush than usual."Now that we are all acquainted, what game would you like
I leaned forward and pressed my lips against his.Adam froze for a second before kissing me back as if he couldn't believe this was happening."You shouldn't have done that."He mumbled against my lips as his hands pulled me closer."I've always wanted you."Then common sense returned. I gently sho
