“Do you regret it?” Colt’s eyes snapped open. He hadn’t expected such a question from him. “No,” he said, his voice steady despite the storm within him. “I don’t. I’ve come to love the woman carrying my babies. I won’t trade that for anything.” Grant rested his hands on the desk. “You won’t trade it for the merger?” Colt hesitated only a second before shaking his head. “No, I won’t.” Grant looked away, then back at him. “That is one thing I have always loved about you, Colt. You are an honest man.”

I started to step through the open gate into the larger pen while sweeping the ground with my eyes. There in the mud leading through the gate, was a small strip of dirt that was an impression of the tire tracks of a vehicle. They were almost covered by hoof prints but I noticed them. I sniffed the air but didn’t get a hint of anything other than cattle. I looked back at where Danny was still talking with Bennett. Colt was standing there shaking his head in annoyance and turned to watch me. Colt was twenty now, but Bennett wouldn’t let him take over until he found his mate. I can't wait to see if he makes a difference for this pack or if he's going to be just like Bennett.

At four on the dot, a dark truck rolled into my driveway as if time itself made room for it. Colt stepped out carrying a toolbox that looked older than my entire adult life. He wore a black T-shirt despite the chill and dark jeans scuffed at the knees. Up close, the tattoos on his arms looked even more alive. Wolves in motion, inked muscle turning them into a story that flexed when he moved. He paused on my porch, gaze lifting to the beams, the sagging boards, the loose nail that had almost caught my foot. Then he looked at me. “Hey,” he said.

Damon brought me books while Blaze glowered from the doorway. This particular afternoon, Colt was heading out. “Gotta do a club run. You good?” “Peachy,” I said, following him to the door. He turned to say goodbye and my eyes landed on the very obvious very large bulge straining against the front of his jeans. I couldn’t help it so I pointed. “Whoa there, cowboy. What’s that for?” Colt flushed with a deep red creeping up his neck but he laughed nervously. “Sorry. It’s… it happens. Being near you… it’s intense. And with the full moon coming up… the urges are… stronger.”

He was grateful for Colton's presence which brought him back to his senses before he totally lost it. Colton Luke has been Brian's boy since Colt came to intern in Matthews creation a few years back. I keep fighting him for about one hour, and by the end, I am lying on my back on the floor, taking deep breaths while the sweat from my body drips onto the floor. “Hey”, I hear Colt’s voice behind me. I look around to see him standing on top of me, he offers me one hand, and I take it standing up and looking at him. He looks pale and like he hasn’t been eating. He passes me a towel, and I clean my face, and then I grab my water bottle, downing it straight away. “See you tomorrow”, I say back to Aries, that is now clearing everything that we broke, he waves me off, and we walk out of the fighting arena, Colt shows me his tablet, and I look at it frowning. I have no clue what this means.

Colt goes crazy in my mind, jumping around like he’s a wild caged beast. He wants this female.
