If I wanted you, Ava, I wouldn’t need to play games. I wouldn’t need drugs. I wouldn’t need to take you.” He leaned in, his lips brushing the shell of my ear. “You would give yourself to me.” My breath caught in my throat. His confidence, his arrogance—it made my blood boil.

“Because I’m not in this mafia war. That’s your game, not mine. I’m not your puppet, Leonard.” Leonard’s hands curled into fists. “You think this is a game? You’re compromising everything we’ve built. Everything our father left behind.” Logan barked a short laugh. “Oh, please. Don’t pull the family legacy crap on me. I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t ask to be locked in here, kept away from normal people, from normal life.” “You call Luca normal?” Leonard growled. “I call him kind,” Logan snapped. “Something you wouldn’t understand.”

Logan had replied with a subtle hint in his voice. That was a few hours ago, after Louve had stormed off angrily. Right now Logan was in the library, alone. He had gone through every single book in the library and nothing was even remotely pointing towards anything to do with rogue pack tattoos. He was tired and frustrated and, most of all, sad.

I panicked in my mind. Logan hopped off the ground almost like an antelope and he hurled a hard kick at the goon's chest, the goon staggered and I was slowly drifting from his arms. Logan trotted to me, he grasped my hand and he tried to pull me from the goon's arms the goon hastily plunged his knife into his arm. Logan squealed. My eyes broadened in astonishment specking the goon's knife dipped in Logan's arm and I noticed a small stream of crimson blood spurting from his arm. Logan unhurriedly dropped to his knees and he lay on the floor patting his arm moaning audibly.
