The cold, composed doctor nodded, a folder in his hand as he walked toward me.
Standing beside me, he began his examination.
“How are you feeling, Ms. Sky?”
“I’m fine.”
He opened the folder. “With a deep wound on your arm, several bruises across your body, and yet you claim to feel nothing… Ms. Sky, I recommend a comprehensive exam. We need to determine if you might have congenital analgesia.”
For some reason, I laughed at his—I suppose— cold joke.
“Though seeing you laugh… I suppose that’s a good sign.”
