Chapter 8.1 ( Astonishment )

I sit in my cozy bedroom, my hands full of drips and my body covered in wounds. The hospital discharged me, but I can't shake the fear of what's to come. Did I make the right decision in saving Wilton from the police? Is he really the key to escaping this hell?

As I contemplate my next move, there's a knock on the door. It's Renad and her brother, and her presence fills me with anger and resentment.

"Well, well, well," Renad says with a sneer. "Look who's still alive."

I clench my fists, feeling a surge of anger rise within me. "What do you want?"

Her brother smirks. "We just wanted to check up on you. Make sure you're not too broken to cause any more trouble."

I grit my teeth, struggling to keep my emotions in check. "You're the ones who caused all this trouble in the first place. But you won't get away with it. I'll make sure of that."

Renad rolls her eyes. "You're all talk, Ameera. You don't have the guts to take us on."
