Something pushed me then. Not a voice exactly, but a feeling deep in my chest. Like invisible hands guiding my choice toward something I couldn't see but somehow knew was right. An instinct that felt foreign and familiar all at once.
Before I could question it, before fear could stop me, I folded the letter with shaking hands and tucked it into the bodice of my dress, against my heart.
