Zandrei opened the folder, scanning what was in it.
His gaze sharpened before he decided to close the folder casually.
“Tell me something,” he said, as his voice dropped to a low, dangerous calm. “If a man takes what belongs to you with a knife, what is he?”
No one answered.
“A criminal,” Zandrei said, leaning forward, forearms resting lightly on the table.
“But if another man takes the same thing…” His fingers tapped the folder once. “…with contracts… court orders… government seals… and calls it law?” His eyes lifted slowly, unsettlingly calm. “
