Chapter 17 Hannah's POV The bass was thumping through the floorboards of Sarah’s Salcedo condo long before I even stepped off the elevator. When the doors opened, the hallway smelled like a mix of expensive perfume and cheap pizza—the universal scent of a Friday night well spent. ​Inside, the transformation was complete. The "12th Floor Survivors" had officially shed their corporate skins. Ties were tied around foreheads, heels were kicked into a corner, and the air was thick with the kind of laughter that only happens when the boss isn't around.

The lights went out and she could hear the MC as he started hyping the new spender. Aria felt like her head would explode from all the noise around her. It didn't help that most of the attention tonight hadn't been on the dancers but on the guys spraying money for girls to pick and those lighting bottles of expensive alcohol. As a result, the stage had not been making money.

Nick said in a way that sounded more like a question. "Go on, boy, " Ruby nodded. "When you died, did you go to heaven? How is heaven like? Is it lovely? What of hell? Ugly and hot as ever, right?" Nick asked many questions which made him look very cute. "Oh, Nick! How inquisitive of you! Ok, I can't answer all your questions. I am neither in heaven nor hell for now. I still have a quest to complete before I rest in the bosom of the Lord. I need to save a lot of people from evil hands. But for now, I can't disclose everything to you." Ruby tried explaining-but with the way things were, nick looked totally confused.

"What are you doing right now?" "Nothing." she rolled to the other side of her bed. "Uh umm if you are free then-" she could clearly sense the hesitation in his voice. "Then?" "then would you like to hang out with me?" "Hang out?" she looked at her wrist watch and it was almost 7 pm. "Right now?" "Yeah right now. Eh, I just want to show you something." "Show me something? What could it possibly be?" she sat upright and plopped out of her bed.

She had to make him understand that before the end of the night and if he simply dropped her off at her apartment then it wouldn’t get done. Even after being in the luxury of Mark’s apartment, Dominic’s flat was more like a museum than a living space. There were thick woven rugs on the floor and actual statues placed on pedestals at regular intervals in the living room. Dominic lit the fireplace as soon as they entered, even though the weather outside was warm. Then he sat her down on a chair that was covered in animal skin. The walls were dark red and the paintings were clearly from the Renaissance. Helen felt like she had stumbled into the devil’s private office.

Alcohol or stronger. “I had fun tonight,” I hear Time tell her, once they reach the door to his apartment. I’m standing a little way off, and though they don’t notice me, I still feel uncomfortable. I shouldn’t be listening in to something like this. No wonder why Time seemed nervous about my reaction. This is the last thing I want to witness my mate doing. Yet, I still stand here, watching them. “I had fun too. I’ve never been with an Immortal like you before,” she comments. Her tone is suggestive, as she lays the palm of her hand on his chest. It takes a lot within me to not to let the nausea in my stomach bubble up to my throat.

Gunnar asks in a scary voice that makes me visibly cringe. "I'm an assassin, Gunnar. My job is to have ears everywhere. And right now, the entire western hemisphere is buzzing with talk of war. A war that just so happens to be coming due to human auctioning. Apparently, some very powerful humans have discovered the supernatural black market. Many packs are siding with the upset humans. They want human flesh NOT to be sold. They say packs who purchase humans are stuck in time and are barbaric. The packs siding with the sells are, of course, saying it is time to end the facade that humans have any say," Hilda explains as her eyes flash to me.

I asked and they looked at him teasingly. " What ? Stop looking at me like that I do enjoy a night of pleasure twice a month ....I'm not an addict " he said and Emelio and Sergio looked at him in shock whilst I mirrored their expression. the Dj suddenly changed the beat to slow and tense music. I don't know if it is the music or not but I can see the sudden change in his expression. it shifts from a goofy one to a serious one. It looks more intense than it has ever been. he begins to stare down at me and I wonder why the change in demeanour. I don't know why but I begin to feel butterflies in my stomach. I don't know why I suddenly begin to notice how attractive he is. not that I didn't notice earlier but his lips begin to look sexier as he stares down at me.
