The investigator looked at me carefully. “We can stop here.” I closed the document slowly and walked toward the window, looking into space.

“Look at her, Finn. She’s shaking. Can you see it? The fear? The baby… she’s worried about the baby.” Finn leaned down to my level, whispering directly into my ear. “Yes, the baby. That’s what makes this perfect. That’s what makes it real. You’re not just scared for yourself. You’re scared for the little one too. And I love seeing that.” I felt my stomach twist. I couldn’t run. I couldn’t fight. I couldn’t even scream loud enough to be heard. “You wanted answers?” Finn said. “Here they are. We sabotaged the company. We manipulated the people around Tristan. We used Brianne. Secretly, I would peek at him, and I could not help admiring how he handled the meeting, but as I listened, Romeo suddenly mentioned something that took my attention. “Bug?” My eyebrows furrowed, looking closely at the screen to find the insect. Finn pressed his lips, suppressing a smile, but Romeo did, looking at me and grinning as he explained. “It’s an error in the code that caused a problem in our program,” he explained briefly. “Ah!” I chuckled, shaking my head, and focusing on writing in my notebook again, but Finn was not ready to let it go, shifting to his naughty side again. He leaned his head to the side and smiled at me. “It’s not the same one crawling in your blouse a while ago.”

She ran toward us, grabbing at Finn’s arm before he could land the next hit. “Finn, what is it?” she asked as she tried to hold him back. “How dare you do that to her?” Finn growled, grabbing my collar in a vise grip. “Do you have any shred of shame left in you?” “Do what?” Maya demanded, eyes darting between us. “What happened, Finn?” “You’re sick, Kael Draven. Very sick. How can you record such an intimate moment? Do you have any idea what this would do to her? Do you have any shred of shame?”

Finn is outside, which he always is when MacCorr visits, not because I arrange it that way but because seven-year-olds who have been raised in hills do not spend Tuesday mornings inside when outside is available. Amias became frozen in place as a black BMW came speeding towards him, a womans screams filled his ears as brakes rakes screeched. The car clipped him causing him to be knocked back. His body hit the concrete but fortunately he managed to use the palms of his hands to break his fall. Taehyun quickly emerged from the car looking horrified. "Are you okay man?" he shouted whilst walking over to Amias. Amias stared into space not noticing his friends figure approaching him until he felt a firm hand gripping his right shoulder.

His words were like a sledgehammer against Dad's chest, completely shattering his fantasy of trying to rewrite my fate with money.
