I pulled my hand out of his and told him the cruel truth. Even if the surgery was successful, he would live his whole life as a cripple. After that, he was kept under observation for a while. Then, on a quiet night, he went to the hospital's roof and jumped to his death. A video was posted to the Internet right after that. He was lying in his bed, crying and pleading for a chance to live. He confessed his sins and said he had treated me unfairly. He wanted to take his own life so he could keep himself alive in my memories forever.

I opened my eyes fully and looked down at the sweet child peeking sleepily up at me. "You hurted my daddy," Miguel mumbled in confusion. My heart dropped and I shook my head. I wasn't completely responsible for their deaths. I mean their father died in the stupid Iraq war and their blonde haired mother hung herself after getting the news. I dealt with death but not the way the individual died, that was solely on those fate bitches. "This is bullshit, let's go, don't ever forget about me little man, we will meet again in the future, this I swear," I growled. I moved him off me, patting his head sweetly and hurried past Maria cursing me while holding a cross up at me.

We cried until the flame of the kerosene lamp sputtered repeatedly and until the moon outside the window reached its highest point in the sky. Grandma finally lowered her arms and wiped away her tears with her sleeve. "Ash…" She looked at me, her eyes bloodshot and puffy, but full of tenderness. "How have you been these past few days, Ash?" I was stunned by that question. I was already dead, so the question felt meaningless. I still tried to communicate using gestures, though. I pointed to my chest and then to the sky, making a gesture to show that I felt as light as air.

The only sound that cut through the haze was Hayes’s voice, low and careful. “Ella… Lucas isn’t coming. He sent me in his place.” It took me a second to understand his words. To truly understand what they meant. Hayes continued to talk. “We can stop this. You can walk out. You don’t have to do anything.” He looked like he meant it. Like he wanted to protect me from something I hadn’t even processed yet. I forced myself to take a step forward. Then another. The whispers grew louder, but I kept walking until I reached the altar. Hayes swallowed hard, trying to hold himself steady.

In the corner of the room stood a large coffin. Sophia had fainted. She lay curled on the ground, clutching her stomach, trembling. “Luca,” I said, stepping toward him and looking down from above, “didn’t you promise to live and die with Sophia? Didn’t you say Antonio was the fruit of your love?” He stared at me, eyes wide, barely breathing. “I’ll grant your wish. A family should stay together. Lie inside, and you’ll never be separated again.” “N–No… Victoria… please…” His voice grew weaker with every word.

He looked around him but he can only see vast darkness in his surrounding, “Who are you? Where am I?” The man shakes his head, “It is not important who I am, what important is the piece of advice that I’ll be giving to you.” Shawn became confused about what is happening, “Advice? What are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying.” He approached Shawn and whisper to his ear, “This is how simple my advice for you, just make sure you don’t die, or else, I will be the one who will kill you whether you’re in hell or heaven.”

Instead, he reached for the heavy velvet curtain and pulled it shut, saying arrogantly, "A little sunburn will do nothing to you until you decide what's best for you, Sonya." He was leaving me to ash! He didn't know after rebirth my strength was weekend and I could not tolerate sun as much as I used to. I collapsed against the door, the rays hitting my shoulders like molten lead.
