CORRUPT ME (GIVING MY INNOCENCE TO MY BROTHER'S BESTFRIEND)
I unwrapped it quietly, keeping it low, out of James's line of sight.
Inside was a piece of fish. Salmon, to be specific. The same salmon my mother had made for dinner three days ago. The salmon that had been sitting in the back of the fridge, unwrapped, for seventy-two hours. The salmon that, when I'd checked it this morning, had developed a smell so bad it had made my eyes water.
I waited until Zyran turned back to face me, still talking about perimeter sensors or something.
Then I took a bite of the rotten fish.
