Or better— I could go to him. My heart started beating faster at the thought, not from excitement, but from something that hit a lot harder. Do it. Just do it. Stop thinking. Stop hesitating. Just choose. My hand moved instinctively towards my phone… then stopped halfway. Cause even as the thought pushed forward— My body didn’t follow. I stood there for a second longer, staring at nothing, my chest rising and falling unevenly. Then, my hand dropped slowly to my side.

As she got closer to the end of her mother's writing, she couldn't help but notice the chemical formulas became more organic, letters linked into words, and words into sentences. For what had started as a log of her scientific findings, at the end it shifted into a personal diary, more intimate and raw.
